Low cost vaccinations
Having a pet at home is almost like having another family member. Be it a cat or a dog, a family pet holds a special place in the home. However having a pet in the house increases the chances of infection. There are diseases that are specific to animals, and as much as the dog or cat maybe part of your family, they are susceptible to these diseases. If there are children in the house then it becomes even more important that the house be free from diseases - human or animal. The only way to do that is through vaccinations. Just like we have vaccines or humans, there are vaccinations available for animals. Being the owner of a pet makes you responsible for the well being of that pet. This means being in charge of the health of the pet - its food, general cleanliness and even medical condition. Keeping a pet isn't dirt cheap. Special dog and cat food can get quite expensive at the end of the day, and that, along with other care products like special shampoos, brushes, mats, kennels toys etc, can be a large part of the monthly or annual household budget. But apart from this, another important expenditure on the family pet is medical - regular veterinary check ups and vaccinations are very essential for dogs and cats. Unfortunately, a lot of controversy is now associated with vaccinating dogs and cats on a regular basis. A lot of people are beginning to question whether their pets need to be vaccinated at all. A large majority can't afford all the vaccinations that are needed for their pet. And in this situation it doesn't help that vaccinations for pets are on the more expensive side. A dog or a cat will need about 8 vaccines - of which rabies is compulsory in all states in the US. Most of the vaccines have to be given every year. Each vaccines cost about $22 on an average. This can get quite expensive. In such a case low cost vaccinations are a boon. Every state in the US has several low cost vaccination clinics, and even PETCO offers a wide range of low cost vaccinations and other facilities for dogs and cats. Low cost vaccinations are available for almost half the price of the regular and sometimes even one third the price. So there are clinics that offer the same vaccinations for $5 or $7 instead of $22. As part of low cost vaccinations packages are also available that can be more cost effective. Having low cost vaccinations for pets allows owners to ensure the good health of their pets without it becoming a burden. This bodes well in a country where almost every house has a dog or a cat and sometimes both.
